Enabling BME Nurse and Midwife Progression into Senior Leadership Positions
In 2017 NHS England and NHS Improvements developed a paper to inform GEM maternity staff on career progression and senior leadership positions.
As Chief Nursing Officer for England and on behalf of other senior professionals in England, I am delighted to launch Enabling BME Nurse and Midwife Progression into Senior Leadership Positions. As a framework for improvement, with examples that outline best practice approaches, I commend all leaders who can impact on enabling a culture of diversity and inclusion, to encourage all talent to thrive within health and social care setting. The evidence of effectiveness will, in part, be the progression of BME staff into the higher agenda for change pay bands and Director level positions. We all have a part to play in making that happen.
