The SHIP labour ward leadership module is a multidisciplinary course focused on senior clinicians within the birth environments. The 4 day module meets the Ockenden recommendation for labour ward coordinators training and is focused on effective leadership, communication and people, operational management and quality and safety. Staff also have the opportunity to complete a 360 feedback and competency questionnaire prior to starting. Six cohorts will run over 2024. The programme is designed to support and guide band 6 midwives wishing to progress their management and leadership experience and exposure in preparation for a band 7/leadership role. The provisional timeframe for completion is 6 months however this will be tailored to meet individual requirements.
