There are 3 elements of the SHIP BFI training. All 3 need to be completed. You will be rostered to attend. If you encounter any problems please contact your Trusts Infant Feeding Lead.
Online Learning Module
The online learning module will need to be completed prior to attending a TEAMS interactive Application to Practice study day. The online module provides the background knowledge required for you to participate in the interactive day and consists of 10 sessions.
The infant feeding lead will send you information on how to access the online module through your trusts learning platform (VLE, green brain, ESR etc). This is the preferred option to access the training as your training can be logged.
If you work for UHS you can create an account and access the module through VLE here. "Infant feeding training for midwives and MSWs".
Alternatively, you can access the training sessions below. You may also want to access these sessions following your training as a refresher.

UNICEF Standards Application to Practice
The maternity infant feeding lead for your service will send you a joining link and information about the study day once you have been rostered to attend.
Practical Skills Review
Following completion of the training, you will be invited to a skills review with a member of the infant feeding team. This will be a 1:1 in a safe, supportive environment. It will provide an opportunity to show off the skills you have learnt and a chance to discuss further learning as well as any barriers you may face in practice.
