Kirsty Lees

Current Role:
I am a newly appointed SHIP LMS Safety Fellow as well as a LTFT ST7 Trainee. I will be working 60% in training in Portsmouth and 40% for the LMS.

Previous Role:
I have been an O+G Trainee in Wessex since 2012 and have worked across most of the region.

Proposed Projects for the Current Year:
I will be splitting my time for the LMS by;
  1. Developing processes for embedding learning from incidents, HSIB, PMRT investigations working with the LMS clinical governance team and the Wessex Stillbirth review panel.
  2. A Quality Improvement Project for the Wessex Maternal Medicine Network with the following aims;
    • Prospectively collecting data on all confirmed cases of VTE in pregnancy and up to 6 weeks post delivery across the Wessex Maternal Medicine Network in 2020
    • Assessing the financial cost of VTE thromboprophylaxis across the network
    • Identifying investigations performed in cases of suspected VTE to determine the prevalence of VTE in those investigated
    • Begin to establish a framework to allow reporting of conditions with a low incidence across the network to improve patient safety and shared learning.

What I will need help with:
I would be most grateful in your help to network within the region to allow establishment of links with your local risk leads, VTE teams, pharmacy and radiology departments. I will be in contact with each unit shortly to identify how we can start collecting data.
