Natalie Crawford

Current Role:
I have been appointed by the SHIP LMS (Southampton, Hampshire Hospitals, Isle of Wight and Portsmouth local maternity system) as a patient safety fellow working on the care we provide to women at risk of preterm birth.

Previous Role:
I am a specialist registrar in Obstetrics and Gynaecology and have worked in Wessex for seven years. I am undertaking an out of programme experience to work for the LMS full time.

Proposed Projects for the Current Year:
My projects for the year include:
  1. Implementing preterm birth prevention clinics across all sites to care for women at risk of preterm birth.
  2. Establishing a regional preterm birth network to provide multidisciplinary support for clinicians dealing with preterm birth that also delivers high quality education on preterm birth throughout the region.
  3. Improving our current in-utero transfer processes.
  4. Providing an obstetric input to this 'Wessex Maternity Academy' website.

What I will need help with:
I am keen to establish current practice within each unit with regards to women at risk of, or in, preterm labour. I would also like to hear about challenges that clinicians have with the in-utero transfer process and suggestions for how we can improve this.
